1369 Libyan 1/4 Dinar coin (Now Rare)
 

"Can you believe this" Bidding closed at $93.17 USD on the 23rd of March 2003, it seems that even in Libya these coins are difficult to get hold of (even from main/major banks in Libya) the alloy looks or is Nickel-Brass or similar alloy, it has 10 sides, measures 28.0mm across, thickness is just over 2mm, mass is approx 11.14 grams and the edges are alternately reeded and plain (five plain edges and five reeded edges) The first Libyan Coin to be Rare and very difficult to find.

If they are so rare I guess you can forget meeting some friends for dinar.

Just another thing you have to put up with to live in Libya.

I like you SG, but all clad coinage sucks.
Though they are better then FRN's, it's just barely.....

Well, what the heck, it is a numismatic thread after all and I for one appreciate the heads up (so to speak)

As for clad, at least it is trying to look like real money!

I suspect that there may be more than 5 collectors of Libyan stuff out there...It seems to me that now that many have figured out that much of the world's ills are caused by the controllers of currency, some collectors use that as a collecting theme i.e. the coinage and bullion of dictators, mass murders etc.

I can't figure out why so many search for mythical nazi gold bars when Belgium's King Leopold II gold coins represent as much evil carnage.
